Avalon Emerson is a San Francisco-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer, and songwriter renowned for her dynamic presence on the global electronic music scene. Growing up in Arizona before moving to San Francisco, she was influenced by industrial, new wave, and the sounds of the American Southwest. After honing her craft in San Francisco’s underground clubs and warehouses, she moved to Berlin in 2014, quickly establishing herself within the city’s vibrant club culture.
Emerson’s productions blend techno, house, and leftfield pop with a distinct melodic sensibility, earning releases on celebrated labels such as AD 93 (formerly Whities), Ghostly International, and her own imprint, Another Dove. Her acclaimed tracks, remixes, and EPs—including “The Frontier,” “Whities 006,” and “040,” among others—highlight her versatile approach to electronic music. Equally celebrated as a selector, Emerson is known for her electrifying DJ sets, which traverse genres and eras with emotional intensity and technical precision.
She has performed at leading clubs and festivals worldwide, including Berghain, Panorama Bar, Dekmantel, and Primavera Sound. Her BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and prestigious entries in the Resident Advisor and BBC Radio 1 podcast series have further solidified her reputation as one of contemporary electronic music’s most compelling DJs. Emerson is also a vocal advocate for diversity and representation in dance music, co-founding the Buy Music Club platform to spotlight independent artists and foster community support.
In 2023, she debuted Avalon Emerson & the Charm, merging her production and songwriting talents with a live band setup, expanding her creative horizons into synth-pop and indie territory while maintaining her electronic roots. With a unique background as a software engineer and a passion for forward-thinking sounds, Avalon Emerson continues to push boundaries in both her recorded music and live performances.
