Omar McCutcheon, better known as Batu, emerged from the UK's rich electronic music scene in the early 2010s. Raised in Oxford and later based in Bristol, Batu honed his craft among the city’s renowned underground community, quickly standing out for his innovative blends of techno, broken rhythms, and UK bass influences. His music has been released on influential labels such as Livity Sound, Hessle Audio, Timedance (the imprint he founded in 2015), and XL Recordings.

Batu’s DJ sets are celebrated for their unpredictability and energy, weaving together elements from techno, experimental club, dubstep, and leftfield electronics. His formidable reputation has led to appearances at leading international festivals such as Dekmantel, Unsound, and Primavera Sound, as well as regular slots at cutting-edge clubs including Berghain, De School, and fabric.
