DJ Pete, known offstage as Peter Schmidt, has been a cornerstone of the German techno scene since the early 1990s. Hailing from Berlin, he began his journey by collecting records in the late ‘80s, which shaped his eclectic taste and deep musical knowledge. Pete became a resident at the legendary Tresor club in 1992, gaining recognition for his seamless DJ sets that skillfully traverse the spectrum of techno, house, and experimental sounds.

Throughout his career, DJ Pete has performed at iconic clubs across Europe and contributed to the development of minimal and dub techno genres. Collaborating with artists such as Sleeparchive, Surgeon, and Marcel Dettmann, Pete has become known for his improvisational, hardware-based live sets and expertly crafted DJ performances. In addition to his club work, DJ Pete is a dedicated record store employee and educator, working at Hard Wax in Berlin since its early days.

His encyclopedic knowledge and discerning ear have made him an influential mentor to younger generations of artists and fans. Pete's work both behind the decks and behind the counter has cemented his reputation as one of Berlin’s most respected and beloved figures in electronic music.
