Manfredi Romano, better known as DJ Tennis, is an Italian DJ, producer, and founder of the influential Life and Death record label. Born in Milan, Romano’s career began in Italy’s vibrant underground scene, where he studied computer science before immersing himself in music promotion and event production. He gained early recognition by co-founding the renowned Elita Festival in Milan and managing a booking agency, nurturing his curatorial and organizational expertise.
Romano launched his DJ Tennis moniker in 2010, drawing from eclectic influences that range from leftfield electronica and post-rock to classic techno and disco. His productions, such as the acclaimed “Make It Good EP” and the album “DJ-Kicks” mix compilation for !K7, reveal his penchant for brooding melodies, analog warmth, and emotionally charged dance music.
As a DJ, Tennis is celebrated for his wide-ranging and narrative-driven sets, regularly performing at premier events and festivals like Burning Man, Tomorrowland, and Time Warp, as well as in clubs such as DC-10 Ibiza and Fabric London. With Life and Death, he has fostered a close-knit community of forward-thinking artists, including Tale Of Us, Mind Against, and The/Das, influencing the global sound of melodic techno and house.
