Fatboy Slim

Norman Quentin Cook, better known as Fatboy Slim, was born on July 31, 1963, in Bromley, England. A pioneer of the big beat genre, Cook first achieved fame in the 1980s as the bassist for indie-rock band The Housemartins, whose a cappella cover of "Caravan of Love" topped the UK charts. After the band split, he explored the emerging dance scene, reinventing himself as a DJ, producer, and remixer.

In the mid-1990s, under the alias Fatboy Slim, Cook helped shape the sound of electronic music with high-energy tracks that blended house, breakbeat, and hip-hop influences. His 1996 debut album *Better Living Through Chemistry* garnered critical acclaim, but it was the 1998 follow-up, *You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby*, that catapulted him to international stardom. The album spawned iconic hits like "Praise You," "The Rockafeller Skank," and "Right Here, Right Now," all celebrated for their infectious hooks, innovative use of samples, and groundbreaking music videos.

Fatboy Slim’s electrifying live sets—often featuring immersive visuals and stadium-sized energy—earned him a reputation as one of the world’s most dynamic DJs. He became a fixture at major festivals and organized massive free beach parties, most famously drawing over 250,000 people to Brighton Beach in 2002. Cook's influence extends beyond his own releases, with remixes for everyone from Beastie Boys to Cornershop, and a role in popularizing dance music worldwide.

He continues to perform globally and remains a beloved figure in the dance music community, known for both his technical skill and sense of fun behind the decks.
