Born Curtis Alan Jones in Chicago, Green Velvet emerged in the early 1990s techno and house scene. Originally recording under the alias Cajmere, Jones made a name with innovative tracks like "Coffee Pot (It's Time for the Percolator)" and "Brighter Days," which became foundations in Chicago house. Adopting the Green Velvet moniker in the mid-’90s, he shifted toward a raw, quirky techno sound punctuated by his deep, narrative vocals and offbeat humor, exemplified in landmark releases such as "Preacher Man," "Flash," and "La La Land.

" His music resonates with club-goers and critics alike for its distinct blend of functional grooves, alternative wit, and infectious energy. A prolific collaborator, Green Velvet has teamed up with major artists across the electronic spectrum, including Claude VonStroke for the Get Real project and many others through remixes and joint productions. Founding Relief Records, he played a key role in nurturing future stars and helping shape the direction of modern club music.

His influence extends beyond the studio and decks, having performed at top clubs and festivals worldwide and remaining a pivotal figure in the global techno and house landscape for more than three decades.
