Raised in Rotterdam and now based in Amsterdam, Joris Voorn emerged as a key figure in the international dance music scene at the turn of the millennium. Growing up as the son of a composer and music teacher, Joris was introduced to music from a young age, learning classical violin and guitar before gravitating toward electronic music in his teenage years. By the late 1990s, he was experimenting with synthesizers and drum machines, developing a signature style that combines melodic techno with house and ambient influences.
Joris made his breakthrough with the release of his debut EP “Muted Trax” in 2002, quickly followed by the critically acclaimed albums ‘Future History’ and ‘From a Deep Place’, establishing him as a producer with a distinctive, emotive take on techno. He cemented his reputation with anthem singles like “Incident,” “Ringo,” and “Goodbye Fly,” while his dynamic DJ sets, marked by seamless mixing and melodic storytelling, earned him residencies in top clubs such as Space Ibiza and Fabric London, and regular appearances at major festivals, including Awakenings, Time Warp, and Tomorrowland. A respected remixer, Joris has reworked tracks for artists ranging from Depeche Mode to Moby and has released music on esteemed labels such as Cocoon, Kompakt, and his own imprints, Green and Rejected, which he runs with collaborator Edwin Oosterwal.
His 2019 album, ‘\\\\\\\’ (Four), showcased his ability to fuse intricate electronica with club-ready sounds, broadening his appeal beyond the dance floor. Known for his versatility and technical prowess, Joris Voorn continues to push boundaries in electronic music, balancing international touring with a prolific output in the studio, and remaining a pivotal figure in the ongoing evolution of techno and house.
