Pinch

Pinch, born Rob Ellis in Bristol, England, is a pioneering figure in the evolution of dubstep and bass-driven electronic music. Since emerging in the early 2000s, Pinch has been at the forefront of experimental UK sounds, known for blending elements of dub, techno, and minimalism. He founded the influential Tectonic label in 2005, which became one of the key imprints fostering the growth of dubstep and bass music globally.

His early productions such as "Qawwali" and "Punisher" helped define the darker, more atmospheric side of dubstep, earning acclaim for their spacious rhythms and deep, bass-heavy sound design. Pinch’s versatility as both a producer and DJ has led to collaborations with key artists like Shackleton, Mumdance, Adrian Sherwood, and Kahn, spanning genres and showcasing his commitment to pushing boundaries. Throughout his career, Pinch has released several EPs, singles, and albums, including the influential full-length "Underwater Dancehall" (2007) and the genre-blurring "Late Night Endless" (2015) with Adrian Sherwood.

His dynamic DJ sets are celebrated for their fusion of dub, dancehall, techno, and experimental electronics, securing regular appearances at major clubs and festivals worldwide. A respected tastemaker, curator, and innovator, Pinch continues to influence the broader landscape of UK bass, consistently evolving his sound while staying true to his deep, immersive roots.
