Ralph Lawson is a pioneering British DJ, producer, and label owner, best known as the founder of 2020 Vision Recordings and a central figure in the Leeds electronic music scene. Emerging in the early 1990s, Lawson built his reputation as the original resident DJ at the legendary Back to Basics club, where he helped shape the UK’s underground house and techno movement. Over three decades, his forward-thinking approach and eclectic selections have earned him a revered place among global tastemakers.

Lawson’s 2020 Vision label, established in 1994, has been instrumental in launching the careers of influential artists such as Maya Jane Coles, Audiojack, and Motor City Drum Ensemble, while consistently releasing cutting-edge house, techno, and electronic music. As a producer and remixer, Lawson’s studio collaborations—under his own name and through projects such as 2020 Soundsystem—have graced renowned imprints and gained support from industry heavyweights.
