Roni Size, born Ryan Owen Granville Williams in Bristol, England, is a pioneering figure in the drum and bass genre. Rising to prominence in the 1990s as the leader of Reprazent, he fused breakbeats with live instrumentation, jazz influences, and deep basslines, pushing the boundaries of electronic music. His groundbreaking debut album with Reprazent, *New Forms* (1997), earned him the prestigious Mercury Music Prize and brought drum and bass to a wider international audience.

Growing up in a culturally rich environment, Roni Size was influenced by reggae, dub, hip-hop, and early electronic music. He began his career in Bristol’s vibrant sound system culture, co-founding the influential record label Full Cycle with collaborators such as DJ Krust, DJ Die, and Suv. The label became a cornerstone of the Bristol drum and bass sound, supporting and shaping the careers of many artists.

Known for his high-energy DJ performances and innovative studio production, Roni Size has continued to release solo material, collaborate with vocalists and musicians, and tour globally, including acclaimed live shows that blend electronic and acoustic elements.
