Raised in Manchester, Sam Shepherd, known as Floating Points, is a British electronic music producer, DJ, and neuroscientist. With an early passion for both classical and jazz piano, Shepherd developed a signature sound that fuses jazz, soul, and classical influences with innovative electronic production. Since his debut with the breakout single “Vacuum Boogie” in 2009, Floating Points has released acclaimed works including the albums *Elaenia* (2015), *Crush* (2019), and the collaborative *Promises* (2021) with jazz legend Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra.
Beyond solo projects, he founded the label Eglo Records and is known for immersive live shows often combining modular synths with live musicians. Universally respected for his technical skill and boundary-pushing creativity, Shepherd continues to evolve as one of contemporary music’s most visionary figures.
