Sicaria Sound is a pioneering force in contemporary UK bass music, formed by the London-based DJ and selector Imbratura (formerly a duo with Sancha Ndeko). Emerging from the depths of the city’s underground scene, Sicaria Sound has become synonymous with innovation in dubstep and system culture, recognized for their sharp curation, boundary-pushing sets, and advocacy for womxn in dance music. Starting out as radio hosts on Rinse FM and NTS with their show “Curated by Sicaria Sound,” Sicaria honed a reputation for unearthing rare dubplates and championing emerging producers, contributing to the resurgence and globalization of 140 BPM music.
Their influential selections blend classic UK dubstep with futuristic mutations, grime, dancehall, and experimental bass, earning slots at festival stages including Outlook, Glastonbury, and Dimensions, as well as club spaces both across the UK and internationally. After their transition to a solo project, Sicaria Sound continued to break ground, launching their influential label Cutcross Recordings. The imprint quickly became a platform for genre-defiant releases from underrepresented artists, reflecting the collective’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity.
Sicaria's kinetic, high-energy performances and magnetic presence behind the decks have established her as one of the scene’s most forward-thinking selectors, consistently earning acclaim from publications like Resident Advisor and Mixmag, and keeping the spirit of sound system culture alive for a new generation.
