Roger Semsroth, better known as Sleeparchive, is a Berlin-based electronic music producer and DJ recognized for his influential contributions to minimal techno and experimental electronic music since the early 2000s. Drawing inspiration from pioneers like Pan Sonic and Plastikman, Semsroth’s work is marked by its precise, hypnotic rhythms and stripped-back sound design. Emerging from Berlin’s vibrant underground, he established the Sleeparchive imprint in 2004, releasing a string of critically acclaimed EPs and albums that quickly became essential listening in the techno community.
Semsroth’s music is characterized by relentlessly repetitive yet evolving patterns, pairing raw percussion with intricate sound textures to create immersive, almost meditative dance floor experiences. Beyond his Sleeparchive moniker, he has released deep, atmospheric techno as part of projects like Nordvest, Skanfrom, and under his real name, exploring the boundaries between techno, ambient, and industrial sounds. With regular performances in renowned clubs such as Berghain and Tresor, Sleeparchive has established himself as a mainstay in the European techno scene, continually pushing the genre’s minimalist frontiers while gaining international respect from peers, critics, and fans alike.
