Blawan, born Jamie Roberts in the UK, emerged as one of the most influential figures in the post-dubstep and techno scenes of the 2010s. Initially gaining attention with his 2010 debut "Fram," his breakout came with the hit "Getting Me Down," a chopped soul-sampling track that became a club anthem. Roberts became synonymous with a new, rawer techno sound—fusing elements of industrial, acid, and UK bass—reflected in releases for legendary imprints like Hessle Audio, R&S, Hinge Finger, and his own label, Ternesc.
Known for his powerful, kinetic live and DJ sets, Blawan pushes boundaries both in the studio and on stage. His modular synthesizer-driven productions emphasize dense rhythms, eerie atmospheres, and punishing low-end, influencing peers and newcomers alike. In addition to his solo work, Roberts has been involved in acclaimed collaborative projects, such as Karenn (with Pariah) and Trade (with Surgeon).
His 2018 debut LP, *Wet Will Always Dry*, further cemented his reputation for innovation, blending offbeat percussion with relentless groove and dark experimentalism. Continuously evolving, Blawan remains a vital force in contemporary electronic music, consistently exploring new territories in sound and performance.
